'Mockingjay Part 1' & Jennifer Lawrence Nominated for Saturn Awards

At least the Saturn Awards loves us! The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films have announced the nominations for the 41st Saturn Awards and Mockingjay Part 1 is in the running for two this year. 

Best Science Fiction Film - Mockingjay Part 1

Best Actress - Jennifer Lawrence

Last year Catching Fire was nominated for a whopping SEVEN awards and took home Best Costume Design for Trish Summerville. In 2013, Jennifer Lawrence won a Saturn Award for Best Actress in The Hunger Games

The winners will be announced at the 41st Annual Saturn Awards Ceremony on June 25, 2015.

Trish Summerville Wins Best Costume Design Saturn Award For 'Catching Fire'

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was nominated for 7 Saturn Awards but had only one win at the ceremony on June 26th in Los Angeles. Trish Summerville picked up the award for her epic costume design in the film. Congratulations, Trish! The Saturn Awards are handed out by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films and honor the best of the genre, plus others, in film, television and home entertainment releases.

'Catching Fire,' Jennifer Lawrence, Jena Malone and Francis Lawrence Nominated for Saturn Awards

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films announced the nominations for the 40th Annual Saturn Awards and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Jennifer Lawrence, Jena Malone and Francis Lawrence are among them. Catching Fire has been nominated for Best Science Fiction Film and Francis Lawrence also picked up a nomination for Best Director. Jennifer Lawrence is nominated for Best Actress while Jena Malone grabbed a nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Catching Fire also received noms for Best Editing (Alan Edward Bell), Best Production Design (Phil Messina) and Best Costumes (Trish Summerville).
The Saturn Awards will be presented in June.

Jennifer Lawrence Wins Best Actress Saturn Award For Katniss 

Jennifer Lawrence was named Best Actress for her portrayal of Katniss at the The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films' Saturn Awards on Wednesday, June 26th. Congrats, Jen! Another trophy to add to your already crowded mantel!

'The Hunger Games' & Jennifer Lawrence Nominated for Saturn Awards

The Hunger Games and Jennifer Lawrence have both been nominated in the 39th Annual Saturn Awards. The Hunger Games is nominated for Best Science Fiction Film and Jennifer is up for Best Actress.

The Saturn Awards are presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films. The non-profit organization was founded in 1972 by Dr. Donald A. Reed.  His goal was to find an outlet to honor and recognize genre entertainment often overlooked by mainstream awards organizations.  The Saturn Awards is considered the premier award for the entertainment they dub “exaggerated and/or enhanced reality”.
