OFFICIAL: Lily Rabe is Commander Lyme in 'Mockingjay 1 & 2'

It's official! Lily Rabe has been cast as Commander Lyme in Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2. Probably best known for her roles in seasons 1 and 2 of American Horror Story, Rabe is also the daughter of the late actress Jill Clayburgh and Tony Award-winning playwright and screenwriter David Rabe.

If you need a little Mockingjay refresher course, Commander Lyme is a former Victor from District 2 who leads the rebellion in D2. From Mockingjay:

"The commander from 2, a middle aged woman named Lyme. She’s memorable enough, standing over six feet tall and heavily muscled. But it’s only when I see a clip of her in the field, leading a raid on the main entrance of the Nut, that something clicks and I realize I’m in the presence of another victor."

Natalie Dormer on 'The Hunger Games' & The Strength of Fantasy

Natalie Dormer, who will play propaganda film director Cressida in Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2, spoke eloquently about what The Hunger Games means to her and the importance of fantasy while promoting her current film, Rush.

From NYPost.com:

Perhaps the biggest deal, though, is the role she’s scheduled to start shooting next: “Mockingjay,” the two-part final installment of the “Hunger Games” series. She’ll play Cressida, a film director who leaves the comfort of the Capitol to document Katniss Everdeen and the uprising she’s inspired.

“It’s incredible how poignant an allegory it is for what’s going on in the real world,” says Dormer of the series. “You only need to turn on the television and watch the terrible things about Syria, about a government turning on their own people.

“That’s the strength of fantasy,” she says, “whether it’s ‘Game of Thrones’ or ‘Hunger Games,’ where you can make a really strong statement about society without getting caught up in the constrictions of current politics.”

Lenny Kravitz on Cinna's Exit From 'The Hunger Games' Series

Our Cinna and renaissance man, Lenny Kravitz was just featured in an article on THR.com in which he discusses his design firm Kravitz Design, Inc and his new set design for Queen Latifah's upcoming talk show. While we absolutely LOVE Lenny's design sensibility, we were REALLY intrigued by the tiny Catching Fire tidbit at the end of the article. SPOILER ALERT!

In Catching Fire, out Nov. 22, his fashion-designer character, Cinna, will meet a violent end.

"After my death scene, everyone's like, 'Oh shit, you're not coming back!' But you move on," he laughs. "It was fun while it lasted." While filming, he also was recording a new album, due out in the spring, at night. "Basically, I didn't sleep for about a month. But I was high off of the creativity," he says. "That sustained me."

Be sure to read the rest of the article and catch up on all of Lenny's design projects here.
