Make-up Supervisor Ve Neill Talks 'Mockingjay' - "It’s nice to have a group of actors who enjoy coming to work.”

Photo thanks to Allure Magazine Makeup artist Ve Neill has served as makeup department head for all of the Hunger Games movie adaptations. Neill told EW that she’s consumed with work on the The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. “It’s going to be pretty spectacular. Julianne Moore is on with us now as President Coin and she’s great. We have quite a few new characters who’ve joined us,” she hinted. “They’re all wonderful to work with. Jennifer [Lawrence] and Josh [Hutcherson] are absolute dolls. It’s nice to have a group of actors who enjoy coming to work.”

What’s next in the Hunger Games movies and how do you help tell the story through makeup?
We’re going into the third book, which is when they go to war. You’re going to see a lot more wartime stuff. They’re going to go into district 13, which we’ve never seen and nobody thought existed. These people have been living underground, so you’re going to see a lot of that. Everybody is pretty plain. There’s not a lot of exotic looking stuff in the third movie. In the fourth movie, we go into The Capitol again and you’ll start to see some crazy stuff there. We’re really going for it on the fourth one. Part one is a wartime movie and we have four huge “prosthetic days” that include a hospital full of injured people who have just come in from bombings. They’re burned and missing limbs. We have a lot of distressed looking makeups as opposed to glamour.

How big is the part of the Hunger Games makeup department that you oversee?
We have three makeup artists who are on all the time and we have one make-up artist who runs our tech unit, who works with us concurrently doing interior and pickup shots. She sometimes has fifteen people working with her. Right now we’re doing stuff in District 13, so we have 20 extra makeup artists, and there are even more people in the hair department. We have a lot manpower because there are over 400 extras. They live underground, so nobody has tans. Everybody has to look sickly. Those are the types of makeups we’re doing — very simple, really pale.

What’s it like working with the stars of the movie?
They’re all wonderful to work with. They all have children… well Josh and Jennifer don’t, but a lot of our other adult principals have children and, of course, their kids are all really happy that their parents are working on the Hunger Games, so that’s fun for them. We have a terrific director and we don’t work hellacious hours. No 19-hour shoot days. They try to keep it to 12 hours so that everybody stays relatively healthy and rested.

Though you might have less work to do if the extras came to set already looking a little sickly.
We’ll just make ‘em look that way.

Neill talks more about her role as judge on the show "Face Off" in EW.

'Catching Fire' is The First Film With a Female Lead to Top the Box Office in 4 Decades

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has made history by becoming the first film with a solo-female lead to top the year end box office.

The movie made a massive $409.4 million, surpassing Iron Man 3, which earned $409 million through tickets sales, reports Huffington Post.

"The Hunger Games franchise continues to evolve into a truly global phenomenon," said Lionsgate Chief Executive Officer Jon Feltheimer in a statement.

"The success of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is a testament to the vision of author Suzanne Collins, the sure hand of director Francis Lawrence, the brilliant performances of a remarkably talented cast led by the amazing Jennifer Lawrence and superb execution by our motion picture production, marketing and distribution teams.

“We will continue to grow the transformative Hunger Games franchise in the years to come even as we continue to develop a dynamic portfolio of premium new brands."

Catching Fire is the first film in four decades to have a woman as a lead to finish top, the previous movie was 1973 thriller The Exorcist, with Linda Blair and Ellen Burstyn in the leads.

Jennifer Lawrence Wins Golden Globe - #Lawrencing Becomes a Thing

Jennifer Lawrence goes to the Golden Globes wearing a Dior dress. Internet breaks. Now #Lawrencing is an actual thing.

Jennifer Lawrence wore what some saw as a slightly duvet cover-ish Dior dress to the Golden Globes and a new internet meme was born. I thought she looked absolutely gorgeous, but the rest of the internet thought the dress was a little, well, like a sleeping bag with two black belts.

The first Lawrencing photos started showing up on social media almost as soon as Jennifer appeared on the Globes red carpet. The first one I saw was from notkatniss. Notkatniss, I believe you started this whole Lawrencing thing. WHAT DID YOU DO??

This was followed quickly by one from Colton Haynes. The version I reblogged on Tumblr was at 110,00 notes the last time I checked. And that was only one post of the photo. I've seen it on every social media platform since then. Well played, Colton.

And now, I give you #LAWRENCING:

PHOTOS & VIDEO: Jennifer Lawrence at the SAG Foundation Screening of 'American Hustle'

I was lucky enough to attend a special SAG Foundation screening of American Hustle last night as a guest of the lovely Tiffany from Mockingjay.net. There was a Q&A right after the screening with Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and director David O. Russell. We had 2nd row seats which had us hunched down in our seats to watch the movie, but were fabulous for getting up close to Jen and the rest of the panel.

Check out our photos and video from the event. Jennifer was her usual gorgeous (even lovelier in person, I'd say) and hilarious self. She talked about developing the character of Rosalyn Rosenfeld with director David O. Russel and the "Live and Let Die" scene where:

"David called action and, I don't know, I just started shaking my head like crazy."

Some of our favorite Jennifer quotes from the Q&A:

"I'm sounding crazy again like I'm on acid!"

"I am NAILING this Q&A!"

"Actors are like con men."

"I thought there was going to be a lot more, like, cleaning. I LOVE cleaning a good kitchen." (on the "Live and Let Die" scene)

See MUCH more after the jump!
