New 'Mockingjay Part 1' Still - Katniss in District 12

Volga Film (Mockingjay Part 1's Russian distributor) is on fire today - they debuted a second Mockingjay Part 1 still on their twitter account, this one is Katniss plucking a perfect rose from a vase of wilted roses. Obviously, the scene where she goes back to the ashes of District 12:

My nose twitches. It's the smell. Cloying and artificial. A dab of white peeks out of a vase of dried flowers on my dresser. I approach it with cautious steps. There, all but obscured by its preserved cousins, is a fresh white rose. Perfect. Down to the last thorn and silken petal.

And I know immediately who's sent it to me.
President Snow.

New 'Mockingjay Part 1' Still - Gale and Beetee

Volga, the Russian distributor of Mockingjay Part 1, tweeted a new still from the film this morning. Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne looks pretty serious as he tests out some of Beetee's special weapons in the Armory. It looks like it could be this scene from Mockingjay:

I focus my attention on a lethal looking bow so loaded down with scopes and gadgetry, I'm certain I can't lift it, let alone shoot it.

"Gale, maybe you'd like to try out a few of these," says Beetee.

"Seriously?" Gale asks.

"You'll be issued a gun eventually for battle, of course. But if you appear as part of Katniss' team in the propos, one of these would look a little showier. I thought you might like to find one that suits you," says Beetee.
 
"Yeah, I would." Gale's hands close around the very bow that caught my attention a moment ago, and he hefts it onto his shoulder. He points it around the room, peering through the scope.
 
"That doesn't seem very fair to the deer," I say.

"Wouldn't be using it on deer, would I?" he answers.

'Mockingjay Part 1' Is The Most Anticipated Fall Film

Shocker, I know, but The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is the most anticipated film of the fall season says Forbes.com. They got some social media numbers from Fizziology, who measured public sentiment on Twitter over the last month to see which films are likely to score big at the box office.

Mockingjay Part 1 came out on WAAAY top with 223,537 twitter mentions vs. the next closest movie, Interstellar, with 75,348 Twitter mentions. Obviously, this is only one social media platform among many, but it's encouraging to note how exited you tweeters are about the film.

I wonder how many of the 223,537 twitter mentions were me fangirling over the Mockingjay Part 1 trailer?!?

New Clip - Jennifer Lawrence in 'Serena'

There's a new clip from Jennifer Lawrence's upcoming Serena, thank to MarieClaireUK. 

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper play husband and wife Serena and George Pemberton. The film is set in the depression-era and follows Serena's "descent into madness as she struggles to cope with her infertility and the fact her husband already has an illegitimate son."

In this clip, George introduces Serena to his team of men, saying: 'She's equal to any man here.'

Lionsgate Announces Partnerships With Mazda, Whole Foods and Doritos for 'Mockingjay Part 1'

Lionsgate announced today via press release that it will be partnering with DORITOS, MAZDA and Whole Foods Market’s WHOLE PLANET FOUNDATION for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.  We knew about Doritos, thanks to the UnlockDistrict13.com sweepstakes that started on Monday. 

As for Mazda and Whole Foods, Lionsgate says:

MAZDA is the official automobile sponsor of the U.S. premiere of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1. Mazda is also a sponsor of the OLTM app. When a Mazda logo is scanned either from a brochure, print ad or on www.MazdaUSA.com, exclusive content will be unlocked. Mazda will also be running a design contest hosted on Tumblr, in which fans can design and submit their own Hovercraft plans. Every design submitted on the Mazda Tumblr site will trigger a donation to one of Mazda’s Drive for Good charitable partners. 

WHOLE PLANET FOUNDATION, a Whole Foods Market nonprofit dedicated to alleviating global poverty, will activate a fundraising program across participating Whole Food Market stores nationwide. For every fresh, in-house-made "Courage of One" juice that shoppers purchase, $1 will go to the foundation to fund microcredit. WHOLE PLANET FOUNDATION will also run a sweepstakes program offering prizes including Whole Foods Market gift cards and premiere tickets, plus travel.
