Sam Claflin in SFX Magazine

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is reviewed in the February issue of SFX magazine, and there's also a tiny little interview with our Finnick, Sam Claflin included alongside the review. Check out what Sam had to say when he spoke with SFX's Tara Bennett:

What appealed to you about playing Finnick?

That I was playing a character where I would be physically in shape and challenged with the fighting side. Finnick is also so complex, having bad points and good points, so I get to portray a character you don't quite trust.

Was the physical preparation a big change to your daily routine? Yeah, I'm English so I like beer and Christmas dinner! But what's great about working on Finnick was I had no time to eat or drink, as I was literally in the gym. It was time-consuming in a good way.

Did the fan backlash at your casting get in your head? I have to admit I'm one of those people who read things on the internet about me being cast as Finnick. It spurred me on every time someone said, "He's so ugly! I'm going to hang myself!" The fact is it made me work harder to prove them wrong. I'd like to think a lot of people have changed their perception of this English kid getting the part.

[SPOILER ALERT!] In book three, Mockingjay, Finnick meets a nasty end. Worried about that bit? Yeah, there is that. I think my brother is very excited about that scene! I can't wait to get started on the next one, to get thrown into the mix again, and to work for Francis, who I see as a pure delight to work for. It's exciting times.

In a bit of Mockingjay mystery casting, it was just announced that Robert Knepper would be joining the cast of Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2 as Antonius. The mystery: there is no Antonius in Mockingjay!

UPDATE: We've confirmed with Lionsgate that Antonius has been added to Mockingjay as a new minor character created for the film. He'll be President Snow's Minister.

Knepper is probably best known for Prison Break, but has been in a million things and is currently on the new TNT show, Mob City.

Mockingjay Set Photos - Justice Building Ruin

On Location Vacations has just posted a batch of photos from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay set being constructed at a mill site, located off of Experiment Street in Griffin, GA.

The latest photos show a “wall” of containers being built for a green screens, “smoke damage” has been added to the buildings, which are now painted gray, and a chunk of foam facade with the words “Of Justice” carved into it. The ruins of the Justice Building in District 12? Or District 13 where they find the red and pink roses and shoot the propos?

In addition to what they’ve added, they’ve torn down one of the original buildings and moved a lot of rubble around so there is now a big smoke stack exposed. The set is changing a lot day-to-day so it seems like they are gearing up to begin filming there soon and, given on all of the work they’ve done, OLV anticipates they spend at least a few days there.

VIDEO: Natalie Dormer on 'Mockingjay 1 & 2' and Cressida's LOOK!

Naltalie Dormer (cressida) was on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live this morning promoting her new movie, The Counselor, and she spilled some great info - and some lies - about Mockingjay 1 & 2. Read on to hear what she has to say about Cressida's look and how they departed from the book.

“I get to wear pants and flat shoes!” she laughed. “No, it’s just fun to be, you know, she’s a serious professional whose joined the rebellion cause. Cressida is meant to be an incredibly talented documentary film director who was following Katniss around. I’m just really excited about her professional skill; she’s joined the rebellion out of a place called conviction, which is very interesting to me.”

Another interesting thing about Cressida is her appearance. When Katniss first meets the filmmaker she’s described as having “a shaved head tattooed with green vines.”

Dormer might have showed up on Big Morning Buzz Live with flowing blonde locks, but we had to ask if she was pulling a “Karen Gillan” on us. At Comic-Con, Gillan stunned everyone when she revealed that her hair was a wig and that she had actually shaved her long red hair to play Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Dormer revealed, “I haven’t shaved all my head of hair off, no.” However, before fans get in a tizzy, she did remark that her look is “definitely an interesting interpretation of the reference in the book. I would like to think that people won’t be disappointed with the choices that we made.”

Julianne Moore On Mockingjay - "I'm Delighted To Be Doing It"

Julianne Moore by Dan MacMedan/USA Today

Julianne Moore is busy promoting he new movie, Carrie and  - lucky for us - that provides reporters with lots of opportunities to ask her questions about the Mockingjay films. Moore spoke with USA Today about taking on the role of Coin and how impressed she was with The Hunger Games books.

From USA Today:

Next, she's headed to the much-watched set of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay to take on the popular franchise's steely rebellion leader, President Alma Coin.

Moore says she was drawn to the part after reading the dystopian series. "My son read them when they first came out ... and then my daughter a few years ago started reading The Hunger Games. We were on vacation and I didn't bring a book to read, and she went and caught up with her brother to play ping-pong. I picked up her book and read it that afternoon, and then downloaded the other two on my iPad and tore through them."

Moore praises author Suzanne Collins' deft navigation of strong political themes. "They're books about war but with adolescent overtones," she says. "It's about, what is totalitarianism, what is revolution? How do people compromise, how do we repeat our mistakes? It's heartbreaking. I was really impressed by the books, so I'm delighted to be doing it."

The actress has completed makeup tests to play the silver-haired Coin and is heading to the Georgia set to begin filming soon. She says the Mockingjay team is trying to give fans the Coin they've imagined from the text. "I think everybody tries very hard to honor the book because there's so many people who have invested themselves in it," she says. Mockingjay, the Hunger Games trilogy's final book, will be split into two separate movies.
