Jennifer Lawrence and Elizabeth Banks To Attend Met Costume Institute Gala

Jennifer Lawrence and Elizabeth Banks are rumored to be on the exclusive guest list of the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, fashion’s party of the year, Monday, May 6, 2013.

While the museum will not confirm who will attend until Monday night, things do tend to leak. As usual, the star power will be overwhelming, and while things can always change, those rumored to be coming (spoiler alert!) include Jennifer Lopez with Michael Kors, Gwyneth Paltrow with Valentino, and Jennifer Lawrence and Marion Cotillard with Dior. Alexander Wang is said to be working on a custom Balenciaga look for Julianne Moore.

Some dates are sure to become talking points, like Debbie Harry and Nicki Minaj with Tommy Hilfiger, or the Fanning sisters, Elle and Dakota, with the Mulleavy sisters, Kate and Laura, of Rodarte. Joseph Altuzarra is bringing Allison Williams, Brian Atwood has Elizabeth Banks, Christopher Kane has Stella Tennant, and Peter Copping has Carolyn Murphy. Emma Roberts is attending with Diane von Furstenberg, Jessica Alba with Tory Burch, and Jaime King and Julianne Hough will be the guests of Topshop.

VIDEO: Elizabeth Banks on 'Catching Fire' - It's an Upgrade

While Elizabeth Banks was at Cinema Con, she played a little poker and talked with Extra about Catching Fire. Elizabeth says Catching Fire is an upgrade!

It's amazing. It's almost like an upgrade. You really get to see the Capitol, the victory tour, the districts. It's world building in a bigger way. You really get to expand on it, it's not just district 12 and the games but all the districts, and the Capitol, and the hunger games. There's a LOT piled in this movie.

Elizabeth Banks was honored with the Excellence in Acting Award at last night's Cinema Con closing evening gala at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, NV.

Liam Hemsworth Elizabeth Banks and Francis Lawrence at Cinema Con

Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, and director Francis Lawrence were on hand to present The Hunger Games: Catching Fire teaser trailer at Lionsgate's Cinema Con panel today. While no new footage was presented, we do know that the movie has officially wrapped, and the trailer will premiere in theatres in two weeks, ahead of Iron Man 3. 

Director Francis Lawrence revealed that he was still "furiously" cutting the film. Hemsworth kicked in a vote of confidence. "I know that he's not going to disappoint anyone," he said.

"I think we've actually been able to really ratchet up the emotion and the scope this time," said Francis Lawrence.

Keeping in the vein of Effie, her pragmatic, image-conscious character, Elizabeth Banks gave a nod to the studio's early marketing efforts.

"They're getting really excited," she said of Lionsgate. "They're kicking it into overdrive on this one."

'Catching Fire' At Cinema Con 2013

We told you HERE about Lionsgate's Cinema Con presentation today, and it's been reported that we'll get to see a little more Catching Fire footage at this presentation. It's rumored (but not confirmed) that Sam Claflin is making an appearance at the annual theater owner's convention.

Elizabeth Banks just confirmed that she's there to talk Catching Fire, in addition to receiving the Excellence in Acting Award at tonight's Big Screen Achievement Awards Gala. 

 We'll update this post with more news about Catching Fire at Cinema Con.

Sadly, no new footage was revealed at Lionsgate's presentation this afternoon. Though the studio did get a snazzy new logo:

Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, and director Francis Lawrence were on hand to introduce the teaser trailer and Lawrence says the film is officially wrapped and he's busy cutting it. The trailer will premiere in theatres in 2 weeks ahead of Iron Man 3! At least we'll all be able to enjoy it on the big screen.
